Out of boredom yesterday (while I was googling how to build a Jurassic Park Explorer) I found an awesome restoration blog for the Jurassic Park RV from The Lost World. Figured I would share part one here. It is entertaining for a car nut and a Jurassic Park geek. Seeing as I am both this YouTube blog is great!
These guys are nuts but aren’t all car people?

I really want one of the MLs but those have a lot of special parts. The first gen Explorers and parts would be hard to find. The Jeep might be the cheapest option.

People build the explorers for something like 1800 for near perfect movie condition so really that is the cheapest route. But modifications are the easiest on the Jeep for sure.

But then you have to find a clean, rust free, first gen explorer.

I started following this last year, but the updates have become so infrequent that I have to be reminded to check for a new video once in a while. That poor thing needs SO much work, much more than new paint and upholstery. I can almost smell the interior just looking at the videos.
It’s an exciting project, but I feel a bit sad about it because it looks like they got in way over their heads.

Well I just realized the last video was from June 2015 so it has almost been a year without updates. I am wondering if they ran out of money or something.

Yeah the guy that did it for 1800 did not have a rust free Explorer he used a lot of bondo. A rust free one might run closer to 1500 or so just for a starting point.

Yeah well not to spoil anything but it they apparently have not updated it in a year. Might have given up on it.

Part 9 was posted in December. The video starts with the host saying “it’s February 3rd”, and doesn’t show much progress being made. I’m not seeing any updates being logged on social media, either.
Looks like they’ve inspected the powertrain and maybe given it a tune-up. The trailer has been removed, as well as the rear hatch, and they played around with the slide a little.
It’s far too late to have it ready for Jurassic World, but I hear there’s going to be a sequel...

I found the JP Motor Pool on Facebook that is were they are doing all the updates now. They have a RV Facebook page that has everything on it. Kinda stupid they don’t do the updates on youtube anymore. If they really wanted communities support and donations they would need all the advertising they can get.

I must have looked at something wrong. They are doing a lot of updates now on the Facebook page they started for it. One of their posts said no more youtube videos which kinda sucks

I'd probably go for a jeep because you wouldn't have to track down parts

Very true. It would defiantly be the easier build. But a little challenge is always good too
